Dr. Frank E. Willard, age 104, of Clarksville, entered into Glory Tuesday, December 21, 2021. He was born June 11, 1917, in Auburntown, TN. Frank was a 1936 graduate of Auburntown High School. He earned his B.S. from Middle Tennessee State College in 1941 and his dental degree from UT Memphis in 1952, after serving in WWII.

In 1941, he entered into the US Army as a private, serving seven years, including combat in the European Theater, as a gunnery officer in the 738th Field Artillery Battalion, in Patton’s Third US Army. He was awarded five Battle Stars, the Bronze Star for bravery, and attained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Post war, he was assigned Professor of Military Science at Eastern Kentucky State University, in Richmond, KY. After moving to Clarksville, Dr. Willard practiced dentistry for 34 years. He was an avid horseman and farmer.

Frank was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and taught the Baraca Class for 20 years. Additionally, he was a Kiwanis Club member for 67 years, a member of the local AARP, and a member of American Legion Post 233 at Fort Campbell, KY.

Dr. Willard was preceded in death by his parents, William Gus Willard and Gertrude Lewis Willard; his wife of 77 years, Katherine Willard; one son, Dr. Frank Willard II; and nine siblings.
He is survived by one son, Jim (Melony) Willard; daughter, Linda (Don) Ammerman; sister, Albert Griffith; two granddaughters, Katie (Mike) Ostroth and Amy (John) Ullrich; and four great grandchildren, Ethan Ostroth, Harper Ostroth, Wyatt Ullrich, and Tobin Ullrich.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday, December 26, at 2:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Rev. Pat Van Dyke officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 26, from 12:00 PM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Baraca Sunday School Class.
