A north suburban man is facing several felony charges after authorities found thousands of pornographic images of children in his home.
Charles S. Herbst, 51, was charged with 10 counts of reproducing child pornography, according to a statement from the Lake County sheriff’s office. Each count carries a minimum sentence of 6 to 30 years in prison.
Authorities executed a search warrant Tuesday at Herbst’s home in the 1300 block of Almaden Lane in Gurnee and seized multiple electronic devices, according to the statement.
A forensic examination of the devices revealed thousands of images and videos identified as child pornography, according to the statement.
Authorities allege that Herbst reproduced the images. The investigation is continuing based on the “extensive amount of child pornography located,” according to the statement.
Herbst is being held in the Lake County Jail on a $250,000 bond, and is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 11.
