Hampton man accused of child abuse

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – A man has been charged Monday with child abuse after police found an 8-year-old boy with bruises on his face and legs, police say.

In October, Newport News police checked on the child  in the 2200 block of Chestnut Avenue, and when they saw him, he had bruising on his face and thigh, according to authorities. Child Protective Services responded and a detective began an investigation.

Based on that probe, investigators arrested Christopher Alberty, 27,  Nov. 24 in connection with child abuse. Alberty of Hampton was the caretaker at the time of the incident, the release stated.
