Meerut: Police on Thursday arrested Dalpat, the man accused of abducting and raping a six-year-old girl in Uttar Pradesh’s Hapur. Cops recorded his arrest after he allegedly attempted to mislead them by leaving some clothes and a ‘suicide note’ near Mehmoodpur village in Amroha, where he lived.

The note read: “I know I will be killed in an encounter and I do not want to die like that. I will choose my own means to end life. Please do not harass my children.” However, the police refused to rely on the note and continued their search to trace him.

Police released sketches, announced cash reward

Last week, police had released three sketches of the accused, which were prepared based on the accounts of people who claimed that they had seen him. Later, police also announced a cash reward of Rs 50,000 to any one for providing any information leading to his arrest. Some villagers spotted him with country-made liquor on Monday and alerted the police. However, he fled by the time cops reached there.

Minor was found in critical condition

Dalpat raped the minor girl after abducting her from outside her house in Garh area on August 6. A day later, she was found abandoned in a critical condition around 2 kilometres away from her house. She was immediately shifted to the district hospital for administering treatment. The brutal sexual assault had seriously injured her private parts. The doctors surgically inserted a tube in her body for disposal of faecal matter.
