TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) Dobbs Park turned into a crime scene Thursday evening, but only as an exercise for students.
Classes from Harrison College’s legal studies department put together a mock crime scene. A dummy floating in the water was only a small part of the investigation.
Students have been working on a mock crime case all semester. Teachers at the school feel it’s the best way to prepare those with a legal future for the real thing. It’s that real life learning they say sets Harrison College apart from others.
“You look at how colleges attack, if you will, the job market,” Harrison College Instructor Don Hutchens said. “One is by theory one is by practical and we’re trying to do practical here.”
