UPDATE: Heavy Chilliwack RCMP presence at townhouse complex across from Watson elementary school

RCMP, paramedics and fire department called to scene of possible shooting

Emergency crews were on scene at a police incident at a townhouse complex on Watson Road Thursday morning across the street from Watson elementary school.

At least one witness reported hearing there was a shooting victim at the townhouses.

Watson elementary was in a hold-and-secure after 9 a.m. but police said no one was in imminent danger.

The incident happened some time before 9 a.m. on April 15 and several RCMP vehicles plus BC Ambulance Service were at the location.

Watson Road was blocked between Garrison Boulevard and west of Watson elementary.

Chilliwack Fire Department was called to the scene to set up a landing zone for an Air Ambulance which is expected to arrive around 9:20 a.m.

According to a post on social media, the students at the school were in a hold-and-secure.

There are no further details at the time.
