Husband of Rivers woman rescued from septic tank seeks justice – Punch Newspapers | #childabductors

SAMPSON ITODE

The husband of a woman rescued from a septic tank in Rivers State, Prince Eke, on Saturday begged the state police command to ensure the prosecution of his wife’s assailants.

Eke made the plea at a hospital in Port Harcourt, Rivers State where his wife Chizoba Eke, was receiving treatment after her ordeal.

Eke said, “I am begging the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State to ensure that all those who did this to my wife and six months baby face the law. All the good people of Nigeria should come to my aid at this time because I don’t know what to do.”

It was learnt that the attackers of Chizoba lured her to their hideout with a job offer before abducting her young child, beating her to a pulp and leaving her for dead in the septic tank on August 17, 2020.

It was gathered that the screams of the victim for help from the septic tank alerted members of the community who informed the police about the development.

According to the police, the abducted six-month-old infant was recovered at a police stop-and-search operation at Omerelu community in the Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The police spokesman, Nnamdi Omoni, said, “Our men initiated investigation which led to the recovery of the child and the arrest of the suspect, who took them to where they kept the woman.

“She was rescued and taken to the hospital. She is responding to treatment. The suspect is with us and he’s helping in our investigation.”
