A student at Jamesville Elementary School has tested positive for the coronavirus, the district said in a text and voice message to parents Sunday.

Jamesville Elementary School will be closed Monday, but is set to open on Tuesday, the message said.

The other schools in the Jamesville-DeWitt school district are scheduled to open Monday as scheduled, for the first day of instruction.

The district has taken steps to isolate the student, is working closely with the Onondaga County Health Department, Superintendent Peter Smith said in an email.

The county will take the lead role in any further steps that may be necessary, such as contact tracing and additional testing., Smith said. If a parent is contacted by a health department representative, cooperation is encouraged.

The district also is deep cleaning and sanitizing the school.
