Faridabad: Two men were arrested in Faridabad for allegedly kidnapping an 11-year-old child. The two men had been left jobless due to the coronavirus pandemic and wanted to earn easy money through the kidnapping. One of the accused is an AC repairman while the other trains dogs.
The accused were identified as Sonu and Aman. Aman repairs ACs while Sonu, a resident of Kalyanpuri in Delhi works as a dog trainer. According to the police, the two accused are childhood friends.
The two men had been struggling financially due to the coronavirus pandemic and wanted to earn quick money. Motivated by their want to make easy money, the two men decided to abduct a child for ransom.
One of the accused knew victim
Sonu was acquainted with the 11-year-old child’s mother and proposed the idea of abducting him. At around 6 pm on October 13, the two men kidnapped the child when he had stepped out of the home to buy milk. The accused took the boy to a hotel in Gazipur where they kept him for 3 days.
Meanwhile, the boy’s mother went to the police and an FIR under section 365 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered. The police checked the CCTV footage of the area and the boy’s mother identified Sonu, The Indian Express reported. She gave Sonu’s mobile number to the police and a team was sent to his home. The police, however, learned that the accused had not been home for the last 3 days.
The relatives of the accused gave the phone number of Sonu’s friend and he was located. Aman was not at the hotel when the police reached there but were later arrested and the child was reunited with his family.
