One high-major assistant coach calls Justin Taylor “the best shooter in his class.” Another sees the 2022 guard as a high-level shooter with the ability to start in a major conference as a freshman. Although Taylor hasn’t had a junior season or the benefit of live recruiting evaluation, coaches from Indiana, Syracuse and Virginia Tech have told him he could log 30-plus minutes per game in Year 1 at their programs.Taylor’s maturation into a sought-after shooting guard — most recently with an offer from the 2019 national champion Virginia Cavaliers — didn’t necessarily come naturally. It required attention to detail, thousands of shots, a willingness to achieve and keen study of Jayson Tatum, Tyler Herro and Kyle Guy. The four-star prospect has moved up to 80th in his class, picking up more than a dozen offers, including Maryland, Georgetown, NC State and Marquette.
