Rezin sits on the Joint Committee on Administrative Rules (JCAR), which checks to see if state agencies are acting within their authority.
According to Rezin, ISBE needs to show that nonpublic schools are not being treated unfairly by having their state recognition revoked over the mask mandate. Rezin says public schools have been getting more time to address the mask issue without any punishment.
Parkview Christian Academy is suing ISBE over the loss of state recognition because of its decision not to require masks. Rezin says JCAR has the ability to hold state agencies accountable.
School and hospital staff were also required to get vaccinated against COVID-19, or submit to weekly testing, per the governor’s executive order. Sunday was the deadline to do so.
