A Lexington woman was charged with child abuse after concerned family members alerted law enforcement.
Tamra Lee Wood, 25, of 607-3 Arvil Hunt Road, is charged with child abuse, growing marijuana, possession of a schedule II drug and drug paraphernalia, the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies met with family about possible child abuse of a 2-year-old on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said. The child had several bruises on her body, according to law enforcement.
After investigating deputies went to Wood’s home. While there deputies found two marijuana plants and medication that had not been prescribed for Wood, the sheriff’s office said.
The child was placed with a family member by Child Protective Services.
Wood was jailed with bail set at $25,000.
