Lincoln judge sends Omaha man to prison on drug, gun charges

An Omaha man was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison on drug and gun charges in connection to a traffic stop in Lincoln in June.

Latjor Gony, 19, pleaded no contest to possession of a defaced firearm, possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of cocaine.

Lancaster County District Judge Robert Otte sentenced him Wednesday.

Early on June 27, a 20-year-old Lincoln man called police to say he was approached by four men in front of his house in a black Honda Accord offering to sell him drugs.

Police checking the area stopped Gony’s car at Third and Knox streets and smelled marijuana.

That led to a search, which turned up a loaded Sig Pro 2009 9mm handgun under the passenger seat. The serial number had been scratched off.

It also turned up 17 small bags of marijuana and 2.9 grams of cocaine, according to court records.
