Man arrested after leaving 5-year-old child unattended in vehicle at Hooksett Market Basket

A man was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child after leaving a five-year-old child in an unattended vehicle in frigid temperatures Saturday.

Hooksett police said they received a report of a small child in an unattended vehicle in the Market Basket parking lot at about 3 p.m. Upon arrival they learned that the vehicle in question was not running, and police said there was a five-year-old child inside who was shaking from the cold.

After police had brought the child to a warm environment, they attempted to locate a parent or guardian of the child inside Market Basket.

They eventually made contact with Silviu Visuian, 47, and learned that the child was left in the vehicle unattended for over 25 minutes. Police said the temperature at the time of the incident was about 16 degrees, with a windchill of -1 degrees Fahrenheit.

Visuian was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child. Police said the child was released to family.

Visuian was released on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in court on April 12, 2017.
