Man pleads guilty to federal charges of having child porn at his Boise home

Nickolas James Parnell, 27, lived in Boise when computers and DVDs with thousands of child pornography images were seized from his residence on two occasions in the past year, but he has since moved to Oregon, Idaho’s U.S. attorney announced Wednesday.

Parnell pleaded guilty Tuesday in U.S. District Court.

In May 2016, FBI agents and members of the Idaho Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a tip and served a search warrant on Parnell’s Boise home, seizing two laptops and two DVDS containing more than 2,000 photographs and three videos reportedly containing child pornography, according to a news release. Agents served another search warrant this past February, seizing a laptop that contained nearly 3,400 saved images and more than 3,000 deleted images, all identified as child pornography, according to the release.

Sentencing is set for Sept. 1 at the federal courthouse in Boise. Possession of child pornography is punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. As part of his plea, Parnell agreed to forfeit the computers and storage devices that contained the images, the U.S. attorney’s office reports.
