51-year-old Erick Guigui attempted to meet a person he believed was a 15-year-old male in the area of Delaware and Kenmore Avenues on November 29, 2019, according to the district attorney’s office. Prior to the arranged meeting Guigui requested the 15-year-old send him sexually explicit photos on social media.
In October 2019, 7 Eyewitness News brought you the story of Nick Simmons, a Buffalo man on a mission to catch alleged child sex predators and expose them on YouTube.
Simmons’ work, through our coverage, was brought to the attention of Erie County District Attorney John Flynn. Flynn told 7 Eyewitness News reporter Hannah Buehler in January he started investigating the alleged child sex predators captured on cell phone video by Simmons.
One of those investigations led to an arrest of Guigui in January 2020.
Guigui is the second suspected child predator that has pleaded guilty to charges after being caught on video by Simmons. 66-year-old Mark Jacobell of Buffalo pleaded guilty to one count of attempted misconduct after he attempted to meet a 15-year-old boy through a social media app and engage in sexual conduct.
GuiGui faces a maximum of four years in prison when he is sentenced December 23, he remains released on his own recognizance.
