Marion City Schools board approved racial equity audit Monday | #Education

In the first Marion City Schools board meeting following the announcement of the resignation of Superintendent Dr. Ron Iarussi, the racial equity audit that he promised under his leadership to address concerns over what some have called a lack of inclusion in the district came to fruition.

The $55,000 audit will be performed by Mosaic Education Network, LLC, a consulting company led by CEO Dr. Melissa Crum, an author, researcher and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) expert.

Reaching out for outside help to perform the audit was the recommendation of the district Diversity and Equity Supervisor, Johnnie Jackson, who explained in the Monday meeting that the audit would provide the district with a baseline understanding of where it stands with DEI, providing a launching pad to make programming and change.
