Marysville-Pilchuck High School prays to heal from shooting

MARYSVILLE  — Four months after a student shot his friends and himself at Marysville-Pilchuck High School, the school held a prayer vigil Tuesday night to sooth the sorrows.

The candlelight vigil in the school auditorium included prayers and drum chants from members of the community from the Tulalip reservation.

On Oct. 24, Jaylen Fryberg opened fire inside the cafeteria, gunning down five students before taking his own life. Only freshman Nate Hatch survived.

The 15-year-old has yet to return to school and requires more surgery to repair his jaw where the bullet struck.
