By Abdul Basheer: Students of a private law college in Tamil Nadu attacked SV Puram toll plaza staffers in Andhra Pradesh following a dispute over toll fees. They were returning from Tirupati when a law student, travelling in a car, got into a fight with a staffer.
As the FASTag payment did not work, the toll plaza staffers requested the students to pay the toll and asked them to make way for other vehicles queuing up behind them.
Ruckus followed as the students attacked the staffers with helmets. The police rushed to the spot and confronted the law students, warning them not to disturb the movement of vehicles in and out of the toll plaza.
But the students were adamant and allegedly gave way to vehicles having Tamil Nadu registration and prevented vehicles from Andhra Pradesh from passing through. This led to a massive fight between the students and a group of local residents.
Vanamalapet SI Ramanjaneyulu said an investigation is underway to ascertain the entire incident and strict action will be taken against those involved.
