BEVERLY HILLS, CA —Seven candidates are competing for three spots on the five-member Beverly Hills Unified School District Board of Education in Tuesday’s election.

Patch asked them to describe their qualifications and visions for Beverly Hills schools. Amanda Stern, 48, is running to make Beverly Hills a top choice for rigorous education, to increase AP enrollment and success, provide emotional support for all students, and maintain financial stability.

The single most pressing issue facing Beverly Hills schools is:

Loss of Achievement; sub-optimal learning due to Pandemic

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I am the only professional who works with children and with school districts

Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.

Declining Enrollment and need for more AP classes, Financial losses due to litigation

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

My profession demands regular negotiation and diplomacy with many stakeholders, including parents, staff and district administrators.

If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?Collaboration with the board to support mutually agreed upon goals.

Why should voters trust you?

Because I am very concerned about young people and I am a known source of expertise as both a mother and as an educational professional.

What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the use of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?

Revenue from property taxes (LCFF) and from Local sources are two of the largest areas of revenue. We must continue to analyze and monitor other viable sources of revenue e.g., state and federal dollars to maintain financial solvency

Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?

We are able to feel our best when we are involved in something that taps our signature strengths and inner gifts.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I am a published author concerning adolescent psychology and current issues.
