Marisol Nichols is perhaps best known these days for her role as Hermione Lodge on the hit CW series Riverdale. But in addition to her work on the show, Nichols has devoted herself to another vastly different but very important gig: working as an undercover agent to catch pedophiles and child sex traffickers.
Yes, you read that correctly. For the past six years, the actress has been working undercover in sting operations with agents from the FBI, Operation Underground Railroad and local law enforcement to catch pimps and predators looking to exploit children. She has played the part of a parent looking to pimp out her child or, in some cases, she’s played the child herself, communicating with suspects over the phone or online. And now, as Deadline reports, her experiences catching these sex offenders will be the basis for a new TV series.
Sony Pictures Television has optioned the rights to her story, and so far not much else is known about the series, which Deadline writes is in the “early stages of development.” Nichols is expected to executive produce and star in the show.
In 2014, Nichols started the nonprofit Foundation for a Slavery Free World to help in the fight against human trafficking.
