#minorsextrafficking | Suspect in custody after alleged years-long sexual assault of child in Fort Bend County

A man is in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement after police say he sexually assaulted a child under the age of 11 for three years.

Ivan Lopez-Lopez, 45, from Beasley, was arrested by the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office on March 36 and charged with aggravated assault of a child.

According to Lopez-Lopez’s warrant, the investigation began after the victim confided in a friend that Lopez-Lopez was regularly assaulting her and had been for more than three years. The victim’s friend then told the victim’s mother about the abuse.

When the mother asked the victim about the abuse, the child confirmed that the suspect had assaulted her numerous times. The warrant states that the victim did not tell anyone about the assaults because she “felt ashamed” and didn’t want the suspect to get in trouble.

Lopez-Lopez allegedly told the child not to tell anyone about the abuse, which often occurred after the child had gone to sleep at night, the warrant said.
