An Oakwood Police report shows an Oakwood woman was trying to divorce her husband before he shot her and turned the gun on himself.
Cameron Roberson, 47, was found with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head” behind his home Aug. 3, according to the report. His wife was treated and released from the hospital, but Cameron Roberson died from his injuries Aug. 5, police said.
Two Oakwood Police officers responded just before 6 p.m. Aug. 3 to a report of a shooting in progress at Birch Court.
As the officers were driving to the scene, Roberson told the Hall County 911 center he had shot his wife and was going to shoot himself, according to the report.
The woman was found on the side of her driveway near a parked truck and appeared to be bleeding from her head, according to the report.
She was placed on an ambulance’s stretcher and moved up the road, according to the report.
The woman told the officer and EMS personnel she was “in the process of getting a divorce from Mr. Roberson” and that he had been drinking, according to the report.
“She stated that when she got home that he immediately started an argument and that when she asked him to leave the premises, he threatened her by stating, ‘I’m going to shoot you!” according to the report.
She said she ran around the truck to get away from Roberson, according to the report. He followed his wife and shot her in the head, according to the report.
Roberson called her daughter and said, “He shot me” before the line went dead, according to the report.
Roberson and his wife both were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment, according to the report.
