NAPLES, Fla. – A Naples man was arrested in a 22-person round-up that targeted men who were trying to have sex with minors using social media.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office executed “Operation Social Bust” Thursday arresting 22 men after an online chat investigation including Noelvis Carvajal, 33, from Collier County.

Detectives posed as underage boys and girls on social media platforms for just four days before making the arrests Thursday, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

Carvajal is facing nine felony charges including seven counts of transmission of harmful material to a minor, one count of using computer services to solicit, and unlawful use of a communication device.

He is currently in custody with the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.

Many of the men traveled to Hillsborough County from other parts of Florida including Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Waldo, Naples, Pasco County, Highlands County, and Marion County.

Two registered sex offenders were arrested after chatting online with detectives posing as a 15-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy. One of the men was charged with human trafficking or soliciting paid sex with a minor after offering to pay $125 to have sex with a 14-year-old.

Several of the men were arrested with condoms, cash, and alcohol, deputies say.

“Protecting children from online predators is a responsibility we take very seriously and a steadfast commitment of your Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Chad Chronister.
