New Mexico man facing 5 to 20 years in child porn case

GRANTS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Grants man who made some disturbing comments about butchering children while sharing child pornography is going to prison for between 5 and 20 years. Richard Dates pleaded guilty to distribution of child pornography.

He was arrested in 2012, after authorities connected him to a worldwide child pornography group where men shared pictures, sex videos and crude, brutal fantasies. The feds say Dates confessed to Skyping about a quote: “world where young people would be raped, butchered, cooked and served to patrons at a restaurant” and that he photo-shopped and sent pictures of butchered body parts.

Agents also found binders and books including one that described how to butcher and strangle children with household items. A sentencing date has not been set.
