James Paroline, 26, of Red Bank, was arrested Tuesday morning, according to a release from the office of U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman. The schools he works for aren’t named in available federal court documents.

Paroline was charged with two counts of receiving images of child pornography over the Internet, the release said.

When asked if Paroline would be charged with a crime following the admission he inappropriately touched children, U.S. Attorney’s Office Spokesman Matt Reilly said the investigation is continuing. He confirmed it’s possible Paroline will face additional charges. He declined to identify which schools Paroline works for.

In February and March, police got the IP addresses of users of a site identified only as “Website A” in the document charging Paroline. The document describes the site as an online bulletin board dedicated to the advertisement and distribution of child pornography. After registering, a user could access links to child pornography.

Investigator identified a user who went by “jimbobtropolis,” who went to the website and accessed child pornography on March 1 and 2, according to the document. The user downloaded sexually explicit images and videos of prepubescent girls, the document said. Investigators estimated the girls ranged in age from infancy to 9 years old.

Police determined the IP address used by jimbobtropolis was assigned to an account in Red Bank, according to the court document. They determined Paroline uses the user name on other websites.

Police searched Paroline’s home Tuesday, according to the court document. They found an external hard drive connected to his computer that contained images and videos of child pornography, police said.

After waiving his Miranda rights, Paroline admitted to knowingly downloading child porn and to inappropriately touching children, according to the court document.

He appeared Tuesday afternoon in Trenton federal court and was detained pending a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Each count of receiving child pornography over the Internet carries a minimum penalty of five years in prison and a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
