One of Nine – Robert Zywicki Board of Education Candidate | #Education

When I think about serving on the Sparta Board of Education, I often think of the legendary 300 Spartans who sacrificed themselves at the Battle of Thermopylae. The Spartans saw their fellow citizens in distress and stepped up to serve without ever questioning the personal cost. Serving on a board of education is a huge commitment. I am proud to volunteer my time on the board to give back to the Sparta community. I am running to continue my service as one of nine board members.

The board of education and the superintendent have two distinct but equally important roles. The superintendent is the educational expert responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating the faculty and staff, as well as, proactively keeping the community informed. The board’s primary focus is that of governance, oversight, and policy. The board oversees and evaluates the superintendent. Further, the superintendent and the board collaborate through committees to take actions that impact the district’s curriculum, finances, policies, operations, and overall performance.

I want my four children and ALL the children of my fellow Spartans to thrive in the best schools possible. This singular focus is why I currently serve on the board and want to continue doing so for the next three years. If elected in November, I will continue to work with my fellow board members and the superintendent to support proven research-based initiatives that will take Sparta from being a great school district to an exceptional school district.
