#parent | #kids | 5 Charged, Man Found With 100 Bags Of Heroin In Stafford Bust: PD

MANAHAWKIN, NJ — Stafford police charged five people in a drug investigation Wednesday, including a man with 100 bags of heroin, authorities said. Officers arrested Allen Poplowski, 78, who had been a person of interest that initiated several anonymous tips to Stafford PD’s Drug Enforcement Unit, according to officials.

Police said they found 100 bags of heroin on Poplawski just before 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Whitecap Avenue resident was charged with heroin possession, possession with intent to distribute heroin and distribution of heroin. He was served a summons pending a future court date.

Authorities then searched an Oak Avenue home and found Maryann Garcia and Alan Hill in the attic. Garcia and Hill were charged with hindering apprehension, heroin possession and possession of CDS prescription tablets. Both were placed in the Ocean County Jail on outstanding warrants.

Police arrested two more people during the investigation. Trudy Shinn was charged with possession of heroin and methamphetamine. Devin Post was charged with possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Shinn and Post were released pending future court dates.

Stafford PD’s DEU, Detective Bureau and K-9 Unit and Barnegat’s Crime Reduction Unit participated in the search.
