It wasn’t exactly easy for the Florida State Seminoles, but they got it done. In the end, the No. 4 seeded Seminoles defeated No. 13 UNC Greensboro 64-54 on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, Florida State advances to take on No. 5 Colorado in the second round. Once again, they’ll be favored to get to the Sweet 16 against Michigan or LSU later in the tournament.

Head coach Leonard Hamilton was pleased with the win but as always, said there can be improvements moving forward in order to keep advancing.

RaiQuan Gray led the way for Florida State with 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and a block. Balsa Koprivica added 13 points, nine rebounds, one assist and two blocks.

It looked like Florida State was going to pull away early but UNC-Greensboro cut the lead 29-26 at halftime and kept it dangerously close down the stretch, putting the game on upset alert.

Florida State never relinquished the lead, but their lead was cut down to 51-50 with less than five minute to play. From there, they outscored the Spartans 13-4 to punch their ticket to the next round.
