STILLWATER, Okla. — Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy knew Iowa State was going to present a difficult challenge despite the Cyclones (4-6, 1-6 Big 12) owning a losing record on the season. What he did not expect was for his Cowboys (7-3, 4-3 Big 12) to come out on top with a 20-14 win in a defensive battle on Saturday inside Boone Pickens Stadium.

Oklahoma State forced five turnovers and had two key fourth-down stops late in the final quarter to hang on and earn its first win in three weeks, snapping a two-game losing skid. Trailing 14-10 late in the third quarter, the Pokes got a boost when Spencer Sanders entered the game at quarterback in place of Gunnar Gundy, who made his first career start with Sanders and Garret Rangel both ruled doubtful to play during the pregame. Sanders helped guide the Oklahoma State offense to score the final 10 points of the game.

After the Cowboys’ win over Iowa State on Saturday, coach Gundy shared his final thoughts and reactions, discussing why the energy in practice was different this week, the effort he saw from the defensive side and more. Here is everything Gundy said during his postgame press conference:
