The Game of Thrones actor praised the two Twilight stars for taking career paths she hopes to emulate in the future.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Williams was asked whether she wants to star in independent movies following her breakout role as Arya Stark in the hit HBO fantasy series.
The 23-year-old said she would “absolutely” take the indie route and invoked Pattinson and Stewart as prime examples of actors who successfully made the switch.
“I look up to Robert Pattinson and I look up to Kristen Stewart. I love what they did,” said Williams. Both actors are known for straying off the blockbuster scene after finding fame as the co-leads in the teen vampire romance Twilight and its sequels.
Williams continued, “I’ve really just been trying to understand what [Stewart] did so well, the decisions she made and how that really affected the longevity of her career.”
Before Twilight was released in 2008, Stewart starred in Panic Room as Jodie Foster’s daughter. More recently the actor has portrayed Jane Seberg in the eponymous 2019 biopic and acted alongside Julianne Moore in the 2015 drama Still Alice. She also featured in the 2019 reboot of Charlie’s Angels.
Following the conclusion of the Twilight saga in 2012, Pattinson became an unlikely mainstay in indie movies. His recent performance opposite William Dafoe in 2019’s The Lighthouse was critically acclaimed.
Williams, who began playing Arya Stark when she was only 12 years old, said, “I definitely do look up to both of them, and yeah I will be taking notes and following in their footsteps.”
The actor most recently starred in the superhero movie The New Mutants, which was released earlier this month.
