Cost-free Costa! Clever teen reveals how he bagged £100 of FREE food and drink from the coffee chain by taking advantage of a loophole in its app’s ‘refer a friend’ system

  • Noah Brierley, from Weymouth in Dorset, signed up to the Costa coffee app
  • App gives each customer a code to refer friends, giving them £2 credit whenever someone using the code gets their first drink on the app
  • Posted code online and saw dozens sign up, giving him more credit to spend

A teenager has revealed how he got more than £100-worth of free food and drink from Costa by using a clever trick on the coffee chain’s app.

Student Noah Brierley, from Weymouth in Dorset, used Costa’s offer which gives those on its app 200 points  – the equivalent of £2 to spend in store – whenever someone signs up using their unique referral code.

In a video posted on TikTok, entrepreneurial Noah can be heard explaining that he got dozens of people to sign up using his code by sharing it online – allowing him to have a very indulgent spending spree in store.

The TikToker, who often posts videos on how to make money as a teenager and hacks for secondary school students, went on to say he first noticed the hack after Costa offered the promotion of 300 points – which is £3 worth of credit – whenever someone signed up to the app in July.

Noah  said his points went up by hundreds everyday after he posted the code online

The promotion came as the chain reopened after closing in March amid the coronavirus pandemic, which has been detrimental to the restaurant industry.

In the video, Noah can be seen showing off his purchases – which include the likes of Fanta, Sprite, packets of crisps, sandwiches and wraps.

He also picks up blended juice drinks, including the mango and passionfruit cooler, indulgent frostinos and hot drinks for his friends and family.

‘I saw it as win-win situation as me and my followers would be getting free points,’ he explains in the clip.
