“Growing up was really hard, especially being abused physically and sexually abused,” says Evan. “I felt like I was being neglected a lot.” Evan lived with his biological family until he was 8 when he was adopted by Tina and Tim. He claims that his biological father asked him to steal when they were at stores, and now, he admits to stealing from Tim and Tina. TELL DR. PHIL YOUR STORY: Teen in crisis? “I get a thrill out of it,” Evan says. “I feel like my childhood trauma is partially the reason why I’m acting out.” Evan says that since he turned 18, his life has spiraled out of control. He admits that he has stolen a car and uses up to 25 dating apps on his phone. “The reason I had so many dating apps on my phone was because I felt like I needed to be loved because of that space that I wasn’t given when I was a child. I wasn’t loved,” he says. “My parents do make me feel like I’m the problem.
