#parent | #kids | TikTok Videos Of COVID Vaccine Reactions

A new TikTok trend has people completing POV videos where they suffer extreme side effects from a COVID vaccine.

The world is on pause while we wait for a vaccine to show up for COVID-19. Trials for the vaccine are underway right now, but there are a lot of people out there who are unsure of the vaccine and are on the fence about whether they will even receive it when it is released. Some are concerned that it has been manufactured so quickly –it may not be safe. Some are not as trusting of the scientists behind the trials, and some are relying on social media for the answers to their questions.

The internet can be a great tool for education, but it can also be a dangerous one. It can spread false information just as quickly as it can a viral video of a cat. This false information can also be hidden beneath a catchy and trendy TikTok video.

TikTok is one of the most popular apps among the younger generation when it comes to social media. They are using the app more and more, and a lot of their information may be coming from this app. That is proving dangerous when we see trends involving the COVID vaccine start coming out. According to Insider, there is a new POV (point-of-view) trend going around that jokes about side effects of the vaccine.

TikTok creators are making these POV’s while pretending to have horrible side effects from the vaccine. The posts themselves are meant to be jokes, but medical experts say that they have the power to encourage anti-vaxx attitudes. Some of the POV’s involve talking about horrible side effects that people suffer from the vaccine, while others speak to the conspiracy theory that the vaccine is just a way for the government to microchip everyone.

The worry with these is that these videos may help normalize the ideas that vaccines are dangerous and should be avoided. When this app is used by primarily preteens and teenagers, it could be dangerous. It could make them rethink the vaccine, and when they google any of the fears they are worried about, it may lead them down a rabbit hole of misinformation that the internet is known for. The best thing a mom can do is teach their child how to find evidence-based research and information instead of believing everything they read and see on the internet. One video that has since been removed depicts a scenario where the COVID-19 vaccine starts a zombie apocalypse.
