The Travelodge, near Junction 22 at Markfield, had to be vacated and a stretch of the A511 closed shortly before 2pm yesterday, causing “considerable disruption”, police said.
Police have appealed for information on youths who were seen in the area at the time. The A511 re-opened at 2.45pm.
Market Bosworth Police said in a post on its Facebook page: “This [was] all due to mindless and dangerous actions of individuals damaging gas equipment.
“Request for any witnesses who may have seen youths hanging around the area of the disused buildings, near to the hotel around that time.
“Do you know where your children are?”
In a separate incident last week, a police car in Hinckley was damaged after officers dispersed a large group of youths who had met in Clarendon Park.
Yobs smashed off a wing mirror and clambered onto the roof.
