Renowned parenting psychologist, Reena B. Patel is passionate about educating parents on the simple steps that can be taken to relieve some of that stress or anxiety. In fact, she says it’s all about parenting differently in 2022.

Reena has Five Simple Steps Parents Should Be Taking For Their Families’ Mental Health and to achieve a happier family life, as parents continue to navigate through this ongoing pandemic.

Here they are:

  1. Be more flexible; Create a climate of flexibility .Ex:  create situations like a practice “fire drill”- Stop, drop, and change what you’re doing helps teach kids to be resilient when it comes to change. .
  2. Do not overwhelm yourselves or your kids; Keep your days simple. Accomplish one thing a day. Create a must do and may do list.
  3. Teach Gratitude at every age: Start a gratitude game!- create a concrete bliss list- use the words I see, I hear, I feel when making the list with kids. Ex: I see the beautiful blue sky today and it makes me smile.
  4. Rely on Social Media to gather information. Active versus Passive Screen Time!
  5. Mom & Dad Divide & Conquer: Know your role and delegate as needed- its ok that dad might do things differently than mom does as long as you are consistent.
