Bex Fowler is continuing down a dark road in EastEnders.
With the soap’s 35th anniversary episodes promising death and disaster next week, the soap has once again delved into the teen’s past history with drug use.
Bex (Jasmine Armfield) overused her ADHD tablets for weeks last year as part of the run-up to her tragic suicide attempt, though she has since worked on her recovery.
Dotty Cotton (Milly Zero) offered both Bex and Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell) pills on a night out this week, and while Bobby turned her down, Bex was quick to accept.
In Friday’s episode (February 14), Bex was still feeling the after-effects of her night when she called Dotty to meet her at the cafe with a special request.
“Some more of them pills, if you’ve got any,” she asked.
When Dotty questioned if they’d “put her off”, Bex insisted: “No chance… [I want them] for the boat party later.”
That was a no-go for Dotty, as she explained that she had to work the following day – so it would be up to Bex to get her own drugs for the night.
Bex was soon off to get those drugs when she ran into her dad Martin Fowler (James Bye). Though Martin is caught up in the Callum Highway hostage ordeal, he was still worried about Bex moving out of their house.
The teen tried to convince her dad that she was relishing “going out” and “having a lot of fun”, which triggered alarm bells for Martin.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked, with Bex insisting: “Nothing. This is just something that I need to do.”
Will Bex’s decision to buy more drugs have serious consequences during anniversary week?
EastEnders kicks off its special episodes on Monday (February 17) at 8pm on BBC.
