TOWN OF MOHAWK – A was shot and killed in Montgomery County Monday morning and his son called 911 and admitted to causing the death, state police said.

Killed was Dallas B. Eller Jr., 56, of Route 334, town of Mohawk, state police said.

His son, Alexander R. Eller, 20, of Mohawk, was in police custody and charges were pending further investigation, state police said.

State police were called to the residence at about 5:43 a.m. by Alexander Eller as the son called 911 to report he had shot his father at the residence, state police said.

State police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home and found Dallas Eller suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but Dallas Eller died at the scene, state police said.

A press conference was expected for this afternoon.
