#parents | #teensvaping | Troopers: Son charged with first-degree manslaughter in father’s killing in Montgomery County

TOWN OF MOHAWK – A  man was shot and killed in Montgomery County Monday morning and his son called 911 and admitted to causing the death, state police said.

Killed was Dallas B. Eller Jr., 56, of Route 334, town of Mohawk, state police said.

His son, Alexander R. Eller, 20, of Mohawk, was arrested and charged later with first-degree manslaughter in his father’s death, state police said.

Alexander Eller is formally accused of intending to cause his father serious physical injury and then causing his father’s death, according to the charging document.

State police were called to the residence at about 5:43 a.m. by Alexander Eller as the son called 911 to report he had shot his father at the 571 State Route 334 residence, state police said. The residence is near the Fulton County line.

State police and Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the home and found Dallas Eller suffering from a single gunshot wound to his chest. Paramedics attempted life-saving measures, but Dallas Eller died at the scene, state police said.

Alexander Eller was arraigned and ordered held on $25,000 bail or $50,000 bond. He is due back in court Tuesday.
