Pinson man indicted, arrested on child porn charge

State police arrested a Pinson man today on a child pornography charge.

Mark Love, 50, is in the custody of the U.S. Marshals, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Special agents with ALEA’s Internet Crimes Against Children carried out the investigation. ALEA’s tactical team assisted with the arrest.

Authorities said ALEA joined with the FBI Violent Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to investigate Love. He was indicted on one count of possession of child pornography. Officials didn’t release details of the allegations against Love, or specifics about their investigation, which they said is ongoing.

“The ICAC Unit is one of the state police services provided by ALEA that specializes in the investigation of technology-based child sexual exploitation – the production or distribution of child pornography, the solicitation of children for immoral purposes, and the sexual and physical abuse of children,” Secretary of Law Enforcement Spencer Collier said in a prepared statement. ” During the first eight months of 2015, the unit has executed 46 search warrants, arrested 21 offenders, examined over 720 items of digital evidence. Although, uniformed state troopers are the back bone of ALEA, specialty units such as ICAC broadens the scope and depth of public safety functions of ALEA – policymakers and appropriators need to understand the full scope and mission of ALEA.”
