ODESSA — An Odessa woman was arrested after police say that two children were found alone at her home which was littered with ‘half full’ containers of beer.
Angelica Reyes, 38, has been charged and arrested for two counts of Abandoning or Endangering a Child, a 2nd Degree Felony.
According to the Odessa Police Department, their officers responded to a home in the 2400 block of West 3rd Street just after midnight on Sunday to return a 15-year-old that had been reported missing.
When police arrived at the home they tried to speak with the teen’s parent or guardian and found the front door unsecured.
Inside the home police then found that an 8-year-old boy and 11-year-old boy had been left alone.
The children told police that their mother, identified as Reyes, had left hours before and hadn’t come home since.
According to OPD, the inside of the house was littered with ‘half full’ containers of beer. No smoke detectors or fire alarms were found, and police say that several wires were exposed.
Reyes then returned home minutes after police arrived. She was then charged and arrested accordingly.
Police state that CPS was notified of the incident and the children were released to a family member.
