Portsmouth man gets 11 years for child porn

Portsmouth man will spend more than a decade in prison for his involvement with child pornography.

On Monday, U.S. District Judge Mark Davis gave 31-year-old Justin Carter an 11-year sentence for receipt of child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Carter pleaded guilty to the charge in August.

Court documents state he used a computer at a friend’s house to solicit, receive and share child pornography through email. Investigators found more than 500 images on the hard drive of children — toddlers to prepubescent girls — engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Carter was also sentenced to a life term of supervised release once he completes his prison term.
