The Ireland’s Fittest Family coach had been attempting to make a phone call for two hours but her son, Archie, had other ideas.
Derval took to her Instagram story to share her struggles with her followers.
She revealed that Archie was throwing things around and shouting at her every time she tried to make her phone call.
The former athlete shared a video to her story with a gif that said: “The struggle is real.”
She continued: “I’m at home this morning with Arch, and I’ve been trying to make a phone call to make an appointment for just less than two hours.
“And every time I try and make it he either throws something, smashes something or just starts shouting at me and I can’t.
“I adore him obviously but like, full on. He’s just about to push that [toy truck] over now.
“He’s also completely soaking because I let him go outside for 30 seconds and immediately he just soaked himself from head to toe.
“He tried to jump off a wall last time I tried to make my phone call.”
Derval, 39, added: “Moral of the story, trying to make a call with a feisty two-year-old. NOT HAPPENING.”
Later, while heading in to work, Derval told her fans that being a parent sometimes felt like you were struggling to swim.
‘ATHLETICS WAS WAY EASIER’
The RTE star – who has two kids, Dafne and Archie – explained: “I feel sometimes as a parent it’s like you’re in a pool and struggling to swim and people just float by on lilos sipping cocktails maybe a cigar in the other hand and you’re just there like, ‘Ahhhhh!’
“Does that make any sense to anyone? Have I lost the plot?
“Now I’m going to listen to a bit of gangster rap whilst walking to the office and remember I’m a badass and Archie can’t defeat me.
“And to that person who’s messaged me saying, ‘Bet you athletics was easier’, yeah it was way easier!
“Athletics was bloody luxurious… kid life my friends.”

In the picture her two kids, Dafne and Archie, are playing in the wet sand and her husband Peter is also in the picture on his phone.
Derval explained in the post that kids “really love the simple stuff” whereas she admitted that she is missing seeing other people and having a coffee with friends.
