The San Francisco Board of Education is changing course on the process for renaming schools. Yesterday, the board made the decision to pause the controversial effort to change the name of more than 40 schools in the district. Board President Gabriela Lopez wrote in the San Francisco Chronicle that the main focus going forward will be on reopening schools. She did acknowledge the mistakes in the renaming process, which has sparked potential lawsuits and potential recall efforts directed at some board members.
