#schoolshooting | Girls Basketball: Grace Hinchman, Geneva top Batavia to keep in DuKane Conference hunt

[Mark Black for Shaw Media]Lindsay Blackmore had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Kate Palmer 13 points and three steals, Cassidy Arni 13 points and Hinchman eight points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals for Geneva (19-6, 9-2), which kept in the hunt for a conference title.

The Vikings, which entered the night trailing Lake Park by a game, play Wheaton North Saturday and then go to Lake Park next Tuesday.

“We’re excited about that [the No. 1 seed], but we really haven’t talked about it much and we won’t right now,” Geneva coach Sarah Meadows said. “I’m excited, but we have three really big games first.”

The Vikings are in good hands with Hinchman running the show. The volleyball libero did a little bit of everything Thursday. In particular, she showcased the unique ability to get to the rim and put a little extra spin on the ball to get it around the rim and in.

“She puts the ball up there, how does it go in I don’t know,” Meadows said. “It’s a weird shot but it goes in.”
