Showcase helps local football players display skills | #schoolshooting

Some of the more impressive individual plays also came from local athletes as well.

Receiver Xavier Owens from Skyview took a crossing route for a long touchdown run. Owens beat the corner on the inside and outran the safety for the score.

La Center’s linebacker Tom Lambert made a tackle close to the goal line, saving a touchdown. Lambert holds a scholarship offer from Valparaiso and showed his top end talent by shooting through the offensive line to stop the runners progress.

One of the toughest catches on the day was reeled in by the 6-4 tight end Ian Davis from Prairie High School. Davis showed his strong hands by highpointing a throw and secured the catch through contact in double coverage to the roar of his teammates and coaches.

In total, 14 athletes from Clark County participated in the weekend showcase. Others included:

• Jake Blair, quarterback Camas

• Dylan Dean, offensive lineman, Columbia River
