Stanley man held on child porn charges

A Stanley man is being held at Mountrail County Jail on $100,000 cash or surety bond after being charged with possession of child pornography.

If convicted, Brandon Dean Palm, 29, could receive up to five years in prison.

Palm was arrested following a joint investigation of the Mountrail County Sheriff’s Department, the Stanley Police Department and the North Dakota Bureau of Investigation.

That investigation included a Jan. 15 search of Palm’s apartment that allegedly yielded “an undisclosed amount of child pornography.” Palm was not in the apartment at the time. Officers later located Palm and brought him back to his apartment for an interview. Following that interview, Palm was arrested.

Palm made his first court appearance on the charge, a bond hearing, on Jan. 16.

Palm remained in custody Monday evening, and authorities said the investigation continues.
