Suicides in Young Teen Girls Rise Sharply

Over the past 15 years, suicide rates have increased slightly among Americans. However, suicides in girls age 10 to 14 have tripled in that time. Health experts are not sure why. It is possible young teens are not receiving treatment for depression when they need it. Girls are going through puberty earlier than ever, and some experts believe that is also a factor. Puberty is associated with the onset of certain psychiatric disorders, including depression and anxiety.
