Syracuse, N.Y. — A Syracuse City School District social studies teacher has been accused of punching a fellow teacher multiple times at school, according to Syracuse police.

John Randall, 54, has been charged with third-degree assault, said Syracuse police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Malinowski. The charge is a class A misdemeanor.

The incident happened just before 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Malinowski said. The two got into a “verbal dispute” at Johnson Vocational Center, 573 E. Genesee St., and Randall hit Michaela Kiewra, 60, multiple times, according to Malinowski.

Kiewra, who is listed as a special education teacher, was taken to Upstate University Hospital and treated for her injuries.

The district did not immediately return a request for comment.
