Teacher, 36, arrested after ’having sex with student, 16, as husband slept next door’ | #teacher | #children | #kids

A special needs teacher has been arrested after she allegedly plied a teenager with drugs and alcohol and took his virginity on his 16th birthday.

Kimberly Wellman-Rich, 36, has been charged with statutory rape for abusing the boy who had been living with her and her husband since August last year.

Jeffrey Rich, 35, was arrested for allegedly knowing about the abuse and not reporting it to authorities.

New Orleans police documents filed in court this week, seen by local outlet Nola, claim that the couple would smoke marijuana and drink alcohol with the teen.

It goes on to claim the first sexual encounter between him and Wellman-Rich happened on his 16th birthday.

The report states that this is when he lost his virginity. The legal age of consent in Louisiana is 17.

Jeffrey Rich is alleged to have known about the abuse but told the boy to keep it a secret

It goes onto claim that the teacher went on to have sex with him multiple times over the coming months, mostly on the sofa, but also in her bed and in the guest room.

During some of the sexual incidents, Jeffrey Rich was supposedly at home but in another room.

On January 15, it is claimed that she took the student on a “girls trip” to New Orleans and after a night out drinking, demanded her friends leave their hotel room so that they could have sex.

When they returned to Wellman-Rich’s home, the teen told police that he was confronted by her husband.

Jeffrey Rich allegedly asked the boy to keep the encounters with his wife a secret “from everyone except him,” police say.

Police believe the teen had sex with Wellman-Rich one more time before she was the subject of an anonymous tip-off to the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services on January 22.

Local media reports that Youngsville police booked Wellman-Rich on February 11 with carnal knowledge of a juvenile, Louisiana’s technical term for statutory rape. She was also booked with indecent behavior with a juvenile, contributing to the delinquency of minors and encouraging child delinquency.

Officers booked her husband with being an accessory after the fact to felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
